Music in the Garden — A Resounding Success!

Oct 22, 2017 | Special Events

When a community joins forces, great things happen!

After hearing the about Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey’s vision for the program Connections thru Music… an intergenerational program bringing music to those in our community with Alzheimer’s and dementia, we at Calgo decided to support this important effort. The benefit Music in the Garden, held on Sunday, October 15, 2017, was our way to contribute.

We are overjoyed to let you know that over $12,000 was raised for Connection thru Music. Fran Pannella, the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program Manager, tells us that this amount “made a huge impact in making the dream of expanding Connection Thru Music [to Monmouth County] a reality…[it] will enable us to make the investment in staff time that is critical to the success of building and managing this program.”

Your donations, and those of our sponsors and supporters made this happen! Your compassion and willingness to help has been overwhelming. Donations from local businesses and individuals will now bring music to many people who are challenged by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Everyone at Calgo and Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey extend everyone who had a part in this endeavor a resounding THANK YOU!

Local musicians performed on the patio throughout the day, volunteering their time and talent. Many of the young musicians have already been a part of Connections thru Music and have worked directly with individuals and families.

The Yoga Loft’s Wellness Fair supported the cause, bringing in vendors and clients, and sharing a percentage of their profits from the day. The variety of vendors, from angel readings to henna tattoos, added to the day’s festivities.

It was an intergenerational, fun, happy, healthy day of giving back.

  • The Tulip Tree Café sold Chef Heidi’s outstanding, delicious foods, donating a portion of their sales to Connection thru Music.
  • Cream Ridge Winery held a wine tasting, featuring wines from their local vineyard.
  • Diana P. Lane Photography supplied photo booths adding to the fun.
  • The Central Jersey Blood Mobile was on hand for those who wish to donate blood.
  • A custom designed dance floor gave people the opportunity to show their moves floor.

It was a memorable day for a meaningful cause. Everywhere you looked and everything you listened to made you smile! Click here to view and download photos.

Calgo Gardens is grounded in the belief that nature, art, and positive energy feed our spirits. If “earth” without “ART” is “eh,” Calgo chooses to nurture earth’s ART. Our style and feel is the result of consciously living our philosophy—harmony by design. eARTh will be alive with posts about Calgo-style garden ideas, plants and flowers we love, do-it-yourself projects, new items from THE BARN—and all the dirt (and fun!) that’s happening at Calgo!
