Located at Calgo Gardens, Drop the Beet Farms is a cutting edge, organic, aquaponic farm brightening the winter with their lush greens gardens. While other farms await the spring, founder Cody Parker can grow through the winter season using the aquaponic method.

What is aquaponics? It’s farming that’s herbicide, pesticide, and synthetic free—grown without soil and fertilized by Koi fish. And it’s fascinatingly beautiful. The practice allows the produce to grow efficiently and with less disease.

Brightly colored lettuces, herbs and greens all grow in an orderly fashion on floating rafts. The long roots thrive in this environment allowing Cody to harvest fresh produce all winter long.

You can arrange tours of the facility with Cody who will enthusiastically share his wealth of knowledge.

Seasonal farm memberships are available with the produce changing seasonally. The winter farm membership included oyster mushrooms, bok choy, mixed salad greens, and parsley. Dinner in a basket!

Calgo Gardens is grounded in the belief that nature, art, and positive energy feed our spirits. If “earth” without “ART” is “eh,” Calgo chooses to nurture earth’s ART. Our style and feel is the result of consciously living our philosophy—harmony by design. eARTh will be alive with posts about Calgo-style garden ideas, plants and flowers we love, do-it-yourself projects, new items from THE BARN—and all the dirt (and fun!) that’s happening at Calgo!
