Embroidery 101: Design your own Cotton Tote

Join Jenny Santa Maria in the yurt for a creative morning devoted to one of the oldest (and most wonderfully portable) forms of making!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of hand embroidery while creating your own custom embroidered cotton tote. Choose from a variety of designs and learn how to transfer a pattern, confidently work with needle and thread, and create texture and detail using essential stitches including split stitch, blanket stitch, French knot, and fill stitches.

This workshop has been taught throughout nine counties in New Jersey and welcomes beginners, seasoned makers, and self-proclaimed “non-artists” alike. Everything you need will be waiting for you. High-quality materials, including your cotton tote and embroidery supplies, are provided with no additional materials fee. Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or already have some experience, you’re sure to discover tips, tricks, and techniques that make embroidery…
