Charcoal for the “Non-Artist”
Discover the art of looking through charcoal drawing!
Working from life, you’ll gain valuable observational drawing skills and create realistic drawings you’ll be proud to show off—no experience required.
Think you can only draw stick figures? This class may forever change the way you think about drawing. Working from fresh flowers, fruit, and beautiful objects, participants will learn the timeless techniques artists use to create realistic tonal drawings. This workshop regularly leaves participants surprised by what they are capable of creating in just one session. More than a drawing class, it’s an introduction to the art of looking; a skill that can be practiced and enjoyed for years to come. Every piece of artwork featured here was made by a self-proclaimed “non-artist”—someone who hadn’t taken an art class since grade school, or in many cases, ever before. A little charcoal dust is part of the experience- wearing an old shirt is recommended. All supplies are included.
