Carrie Buchman and Mary Ann Denver have been growing orchids for many years. Carrie got her first orchid in 1983 and Mary Ann got hers in 1990. They both love small, unusual, and oddball orchids as well as the ever-popular Cattleyas, Phalaenopsis, and Oncidium, amongst others.
Carrie grows in a converted sunroom, which is somewhere between a windowsill and a greenhouse, attached to her house with many going outside to enjoy the New Jersey summer. Mary Ann has a similar dedicated room in her home as well as a separate area for a collection of cold-growing orchids. They have both won ribbons in many shows including the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show; and have both earned multiple flower quality, cultural and botanical awards from the American Orchid Society.
Carrie and Mary Ann are both American Orchids Society Judges.
