Pysanky Egg Decorating Workshop – AFTERNOON CLASS

Learn various techniques, explore traditional designs, and delve into the historical and cultural significance of Pysanky.
 
Pysanky, a revered art form dating back to the Neolithic, involves creating intricate designs on eggs using beeswax and dyes in a layered batik method. 
All participants will bring home their own beautifully decorated egg and have the skills to pass on and enjoy with their families for years to come.
This workshop is open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. All materials are provided; including eggs from my own chickens and a local farm in Farmingdale.
Please bring an apron or old shirt and an egg carton for safely transporting your egg. Ages 18+
 
***Please bring $10 cash, payable the day of the workshop for materials.

About Jenny Santa Maria:
I’ve taught Ukrainian egg decorating and techniques in a variety of esteemed settings for over a decade. I have instructed several groups and held demonstrations at many Art Centers, Art Museums, Libraries, Garden Centers and Galleries on the East Coast including Brattleboro Art Museum in VT, Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ, Newport Art Museum in RI, the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in Wappingers Falls, NY and the Center for Contemporary Art in Hudson Valley.
