All Day Open House — Aquaponics Facility Tours!

Take a fascinating up-close tour of Drop the Beets Farms’ aquaponic facility.

See the 15,000 gallon fish tanks and learn about the sustainable ecology of an aquaponics closed loop system. Understand the symbiotic relationship between fish, bacteria, and plants (food), and the roll each organism plays in nutrient cycling.

This tour will leave you thinking about the big ideas: how aquaponics farming as a sustainable alternative to conventional soil-based farming methods can be applied to world hunger issues. Examples: the impact of climate change has on agricultural crop production, or conditions needed to create an agricultural system in urban "food deserts”

Tours will run at 11 am / 1 pm / 3 pm
